Minecraft is a sandbox gaming actually created by Swedish game creator Markus "Notch" Persson, and developed and published by Mojang later. The creative and building areas of Minecraft permit players to construct constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally produced world. In 2014 September, Microsoft declared a deal to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition later being completed 8 weeks.

Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the option that can be played in third person function. The core gameplay revolves around placing and breaking blocks. The game world comprises rough 3D objects--mainly cubes--arranged in a set grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, lava, tree trunks, etc. While players can move around the world freely, objects can only just be located at predetermined locations on the grid. By contrast, hostile mobs--such as large spiders, skeletons, and zombies--spawn during nighttime or in dark places, such as caves. Some Minecraft-unique creatures have been known by reviewers, such as the Creeper, an exploding creature that sneaks through to the player; and the Enderman, a creature with the ability to teleport and pick up blocks.
